xx Site moving
January 27, 2012, 10:21:10 AM by GonoszTopi
Hello everyone!

We've just decided to move from our current server hosting, it's just too expensive. We're looking for cheap (or free) solutions to move everything (or most of the things) from the current server.

This is the point where we need your knowledge. We need ideas, from which we can choose the best. We're open to suggestions on either server-hosting or site-hosting.

The minimum requirements for a site-hosting are to be able to host the forum, the wiki and the Subversion source code repository. Good to have features: ssh access, backups, mail forwarding.

Looking forward to your ideas,
the aMule Team

lamp aMule 2.3.1 released
November 12, 2011, 08:43:23 AM by GonoszTopi
Time came and time passed by. The moment is over, became part of the past and never comes back. Nothing to notice, nothing seems to be changed. The world looks just the same. However, a little bit of information has changed, some bits flipped in the RAM of a computer. In the long term it will change the life for many people, who yet doesn't even know their life is going to be changed.

The Programmer pressed "Enter". The Computer shook itself, made some noise resembling the sound of glass breaking, switched the screen on and off, and finally presented the Prompt. The Programmer leaned back. He was satisfied. The nights, the days (mostly nights) he put in this work finally brought its fruit. The Release was done.

That said, we happily present you
aMule 2.3.1
in technicolor.

To keep up with leading innovations in information technology, we provide tarballs in .tar.xz format alongside with the usual old .tar.bz2 format. In the next decades we might completely switch to .tar.xz, if it turns out to be better for the Earth.

Everyone else should bug their distro's packagers to update their packages.

xx Comments on the usual delay
November 01, 2011, 12:42:32 AM by GonoszTopi
As you might have already noticed, there are special numbers. There are even several classes of special numbers. The one I'm talking about is the most special of all. It's a recipriversexlusion, a number whose existence can only be defined as being anything other than itself. Unfortunate for you, aMule planned release dates belong to this class.

Translating the above to human-readable and understandable words, it means that although we stated several times that 2.3.1 will be released in October, it won't (or wasn't, depending on your time zone). However, this gives us the possibility to hoax set another date. I won't tell you the date, let it be surprise. The only direction I can give is that it's twelve days from now. Of course we won't release that day - again -, but we'll do as if we did the release on the mentioned day. (Huh, it's getting harder not to give out precious internal information.)

Translators wanted

Only some of the several translations aMule has are more or less regularly updated. There are a number of translations that hasn't been updated for four or more years. Check out http://amule.sourceforge.net/translations/ to see the states of the current translations. Therefore, if you speak any of the "abandoned" languages (and English, of course), you're welcome to help by contributing to translation. If you don't have the time/knowledge/etc to translate all strings, it doesn't matter. If you can translate only (say) 10 strings, just send it us, it means 10 less untranslated strings. For details on translation please see HOWTO Translate aMule into your native language and the sticky topics on the Translations board.

xx aMule 2.3.1 RC2
August 21, 2011, 04:08:12 PM by Kry
Here you go, a new release candidate for aMule 2.3.1.

This should be the last release candidate before the final version, which is to be released in October. Of this year, if possible. So, feel free to compile and test - we may provide MacOS X and Windows binaries soon in case someone wants to test on those platforms without compiling.

Always use the latest wxWidgets (2.8.12 or higher).

Here are the sources: http://sourceforge.net/projects/amule/files/aMule/2.3.1rc2/aMule-2.3.1rc2.tar.bz2/download

EDIT: Added MacOSX test build, for 10.5+, ppc or x86. Download here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/amule/files/aMule/2.3.1rc2/aMule-2.3.1rc2-MacOSX-10.5%2B-Universal-wxSVN-cocoa.zip/download

EDIT (Stu): Added Windows binaries: http://amule.googlecode.com/files/aMule2.3.1-RC2.zip

Enjoy!
